The 12 most widely downloaded HNN resources in 2016

2016 was an important year for newborn health.

Some highlights included new research and guidelines emphasizing the importance of addressing perinatal deaths, managing infections and improving postnatal care, and counting every baby. Seven international professional associations endorsed a joint statement on kangaroo mother care to accelerate its use for small and premature babies. At the Women Deliver conference, 6,000 global advocates committed to making the Sustainable Development Goals responsive to the needs of women and babies. The Every Newborn movement continued to call attention to the importance of improving maternal and newborn survival, and Nepal and Nigeria launched their own newborn action plans. And in response to growing humanitarian crises, a field guide to improve the survival of newborns in humanitarian settings was launched.

We made some changes here as well. HNN started the year with a redesign to make it easier to find newborn health-related resources, we added a data visualization tool to the Newborn Numbers page, and we also made it easier for partners to share resources, blogs, and news.

This year, we published 99 blog posts and added 243 new resources. In reflecting back on this past year, we compiled a list of our most widely downloaded and shared resources and news items:
