To improve the quality of care for newborns, the American Academy of Pediatrics, in collaboration with many global partners, developed Helping Babies Survive (HBS). HBS is a suite of evidence-based, hands-on training programs designed to reduce neonatal mortality and morbidity.

Essential Care for Every Baby teaches health care providers essential newborn care practices to keep all babies healthy from the time of birth to discharge from the facility.

A selection of ECEB materials are available here on HNN. The full package of ECEB educational materials, including in additional languages, can be downloaded at no cost by visiting the AAP International Resources site.

ECEB improves newborn care skills through hands-on learning and practice using a neonatal simulator and breastfeeding simulator.  You can order these simulators by visiting the Laerdal Global Health website or ShopAAP.
